Hamilton, located at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, is bisected by the Niagara escarpment.  It is a major Canadian seaport, still a steel town, but one with many interesting natural features arising from its unique location.  For example, there are over 100 waterfalls in the city, more than in any other city in the world.  Hamilton should be exquisitely beautiful during CSC2009.

The weather forecast for Hamilton may be found here; climate statistics for Hamilton may be found towards the bottom of this page.

Attractions which were developed with more human input range from the Royal Botanical Gardens to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.  Details about the many attractions in Hamilton may be found at the links below.

Hamilton is about equidistant from the Niagara peninsula and the city of Toronto; each of which can be reached in less than an hour by bus or car.

The Niagara peninsula is justly famous not only for Niagara Falls and the many attractions there, but also the superb wine country and the Shaw Festival.

Other sources of information about the area include the following:

City of Niagara Falls Niagara Wine Country
Info Niagara Niagara-on-the-Lake Wineries
Niagara Parks Canada Niagara Parkway and Wine Country
Niagara-on-the-Lake More Niagara Wine Country

Information about the area is almost limitless; check out Google if the above is not sufficient.

In contrast to the natural beauty and features of the Niagara peninsula, Toronto has a population of about 2.5 million with about 5.5 million people living in the Greater Toronto Area.  It is an incredibly diverse city with more than 140 spoken languages and dialects; more than 30% of the population speaks a language other than English or French at home.

A superb collection of links about the many facets, neighbourhoods, features and attractions in Toronto may be found beginning here.

Somewhat further (~100 km) away is the world-renown Stratford Shakespeare Festival.
